Social climber

Look! A climber's hand! (Actually, it doesn't really look like one, since it's not bleeding and still has nice nails... but it's dirty and the veins are popping out. For real.)

I went to the wall today for the first time since I thrashed my ankle there six months ago. Bryant and I had climbed Joshua Tree and Smith Rock over Christmas and summer break, respectively, but for whatever reason, I hadn't managed to make it to the wall.

Today I finally did, and I feel like a new person, which sounds clicheed, but in this case is absolutely true. A sore-armed new person, but a happy one nonetheless. I've even decided to forgive my neighbor's bike parking job, and have hit upon a much more workable solution. If my neighbor insists on parking his bike in my spot, I won't stop him, but I won't stop parking there, either. It will take a little work, but I'm pretty sure he can still get his bike out. And we'll see whether he decides to keep parking there.

That is totally something I would do. Maybe they will understand and stop parking there.

Actually, they were out there partying last night (they seem to have rigged a light so that they could play beanbags until midnight or so), so I guess all of his friends saw it, too. I don't think it's malicious, just a subtle (or not-so-subtle) hint. He can get his bike out, so I'm not worried about it. (And they already think I'm a nut... grad school??)
