Personal grooming, Disaster Kitchen style

The perils of cutting hair:

Cutting yourself with sharp new scissors, right between your fingers. This might not look like much, but it hurt. Those of you who have done it, know.
The perils of cutting your OWN hair, behind your head: Asymmetrical 'do (unintentional). At least I didn't pay $30 to look like this. Sigh. (The fact that my hair is curly does, of course, cover a multitude of sins: if it were straight, I don't think I'd even try.)

Oh, amen, and amen.

I've cut my left hand more times than I care to remember. And, yes, often between the fingers.

And yet, though painful, it hasn't stopped me yet.

I'm pretty sure the hair on the left side of my head is noticably longer than the hair on the right. Noticably to everyone else, I should say. I never seem to be able to notice it when I'm standing in front of the mirror.

And, as long as I'm here and we're on the subject, isn't it a pain to cut the hair on the back and top of your head? Who can see that part and cut at the same time? It's next to impossible, no matter how many mirrors. For me it always just comes down to cutting what feels right, 'cause I can't see a darned thing.

You are a brave man, Ben Yancer! You're right, it's a pain. I had to prop my full-length mirror on the toilet to even attempt to see. That seemed to work better than holding my compact in one hand and trimming with the other...

I still have a faint scar in the shape of an "M" on the top of my index finger and another funny looking one on my middle finger from the many times I've cut my fingers -and it always seems to be in the same places too.
I've found that it's kind of a detached feeling for the first few nano-seconds; the pain doesn't set in until you look at it- you just think that you have cut a very thick rubber band...
I always thought it would be lovely to have a head that comes off like the mannequin heads we used in beauty school. We could just plop it on one of those adjusting doo-dads and cut away to our heart's content and plop it back on. I also like the idea of the flip-top head.
