"How long? How long must we sing this song..."

This weekend I was at Camp Mohaven, about two and a half hours southeast of here, for a spiritual retreat weekend. It was beautiful, but Mr. Cardcam seems to have died on Thursday, so I have no photographic documentation of the rolling hills, blue skies, and vivid leaves. When we got back to BG this afternoon, it was lovely. The internet says it only hit 60 today, but it felt closer to 70.

Ellen recommended a book to me, which I started reading over dinner and am now halfway through. It is Amy Krouse Rosenthal's Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life.

I graded my midterm exams and the average is 83% if I don't count the one 26/100 (which came with a note promising a later explanatory e-mail that hasn't yet arrived). Since the class self-selects for more self-motivated individuals, being distance learning, I think that's a decent average.

I am continuing this entry in part to forestall the commencement of my next necessitous tasks, one of which is writing an abstract to submit to the seventh annual Graduate Symposium on Women's and Gender History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have never submitted a paper to a symposium before. I'm not too worried, though, because the dates for the symposium fall on the last weekend of Lourdes' spring break. If my paper is accepted, I suppose I will rejoice and take my spring break the following week--since I only teach once a week, it should be fine. And if it's rejected, I won't feel too disappointed since I'll still have my normal spring break (and may also take the next week anyway!).
