So as I promised a week ago, as soon as I finished my last class on Wednesday, I jumped a train and then a plane, and after a substellar flight involving a middle seat and a screaming* baby, landed in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a weird place, as I've said before; it's weird when you drive there in the middle of the night, and it's weird when you fly there from another planet (which Minneapolis in March may as well be--let alone my career as a student/teacher/zombie). But it is warm and sunny, and some people live there anyway, despite the weirdness.
After spending Thursday, Friday, and Saturday there, I left this morning and am now at my parents' house in the desert. I left Lappy and all associated accoutrements at home, so I don't have any pictures to show at the moment, but I'm sure I'll post them when I'm back, if only to remind myself of the existence of this lovely alternate universe.
* Caterwauling, howling, wailing, screeching, shrieking... unable to sleep, I started enumerating synonyms to describe the cacophony.

I spent fourteen hours over the Pacific Ocean sitting next to a lap infant, who made surprisingly little noise. Your experience sounds far less pleasant.
That's why I'm terrified of having to fly anywhere with kids- especially with my "spirited" children... Not only is it annoying to other passengers, but it's annoying, stressful, and generally capable of causing an apoplexy to myself!
Ter-ri-fied!
When I was 13, I was on a six hour flight with my aunt and cousin. He was less than a year, screamed the whole time. She and I took turns walking him up and down the aisle. He never stopped. It was agonizing. I felt bad for us, I felt terrible for the other people on the plane. It's a no-win, for sure.
Enjoy! your vacation!
