Treeline

Paul and Teri flew in on Wednesday afternoon, and were able to stay through the weekend; Paul left very early Sunday morning and Ter flew out yesterday at 9:00. We had a really excellent time, only very slightly overshadowed by the deadline hanging over my head while I was busy vacationing and playing tour guide.

That deadline was this morning, for the first assignment in the first class I've taken from my advisor (who I, naturally, think absolutely brilliant). Brilliant and perhaps a teensy bit of a sadist, as the assignment involved creating a coherent and cohesive graphical representation of the histories of alternative media (performance, video, and digital art) presented in four separate (thankfully rather short) required textbooks. It was called the "timeline" project and had at least the five of us art history grads in the class (all of us the professor's advisees) thoroughly nerve-wracked.

Thankfully my project managed to come together, from stacks of drafts and notes, sometime yesterday evening, and I had it finished and picked up from Kinko's--in its 24x20" glory (only $3.22!)--with six full hours left for sleeping. And now, because I promised Ter, I share it with you. It's fascinating.

wow, that's really impressive. i can also see why you called the advisor a bit of a sadist....

Jeez louise, Ceri. That looks like a lot of work. I'm impressed that you managed to be a tour guide and finish your project on time.

I have a feeling I could learn something from it, if my head didn't hurt so much right now.

Oh, how nice of you to ask Ceri! We would love to blogrolled on your blog (As a newcomer to the blogging world, I'm thinking that means you're going to list us on your blogroll which A-ok. If that's not what it means... let's talk more :)

Bravo on your completed project, it's pretty.
