$60 application fee...
So Santa Barbara rejected me. And to add insult to injury, they did it by e-mail! Do I really want to go to a university that can't afford a stamp, anyway? I don't think so.
Now I'm only waiting to hear from San Diego. This is difficult, because UCSD is pretty high on my list. So far I've gotten accepted to all the schools I visited... but I've gotten rejected to all the schools in California. (Is it because I was born in Fontana? That should grant me extra-special status! Maybe it was because I defected and moved to the Midwest.)
San Diego was one of the January 15 application deadlines. Hopefully they'll manage to get back to me before my first acceptance deadlines...

the really sad thing about my day was that i looked at all the fontana pictures.
You don't want to be in California anyway...it's probably going to fall off soon, creating a new coastal paradise in Nevada or something.
One of my friends here at UIUC applied here only because of the later application deadline. He got in, got money, is nearly finished with his PhD. Sometimes total coincidence is the way to go.
